Finally in Germany!

Well, it’s been a long time coming, but it is finally here. I’m in Germany! And it is absolutely amazing.

There was a time in my life where I really considered becoming a flight attendant.  I thought it seemed like a cool gig, and if enough work was put in I could potentially travel the world all the time. That desire is now GONE. The flight across the Atlantic is ridiculously long. Don’t get me wrong, it was all very nice; they feed you and give you pillows and blankets and masks and ear plugs. My flight was even pretty empty, so I had a whole row to myself. But to do that on a regular basis? There is no way I could handle that. Hats off to people in the profession, but I am happy to be on solid ground.

Also, you search Pinterest and stuff for tips on getting through a long flight, but there are honestly only a few things to remember.

1) Dress comfortably

2) Stay hydrated

3) Just sleep

If I was going to add one more thing it would simply be that I love my Beats headphones. There is a constant blast of air coming from the ceiling the entire plane ride, so was grateful to able to drown it out.

The hardest thing about being here is adjusting to the time difference. 9 hours is a lot more than you might think. So, yeah, I slept in till one this afternoon. But the windows here have these awesome metal blinds outside that completely block out the sun. Or I suppose I should say the clouds. The weather is nothing like Arizona. It’s cold here, and I haven’t had to put on sunglasses once. It’s weird but I like it. I can do my hair and makeup, and put on cute clothes, and it doesn’t melt the second I walk outside!

Anyways, today was pretty cool. We went to the Air Force base and got me a pass. Since  I’m staying for awhile they gave me my own little ID card with my picture on it and everything! It’s sweet.

I suppose I should mention that as of last night, I am now going to be in a musical. I will let you know how that goes.

Highlight: We went out to eat. It is called doner, but with those two little dots over the “o”. (I will figure out how to do all that on this keyboard eventually, but right now I am too lazy.) It’s lamb, and it is delicious. I got this little pocket of bread, with meat (yum), cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and this fabulous white sauce that I am told is the best around. French fries were top notch, and service was great. I think the restaurant was called City Grill, so if you are ever in Spangdahlem, I would highly recommend it.
